I have violated one of my cardinal rules: plan ahead! I should have posted these word finding cues two weeks ago. I presented them to my kids in therapy, but forgot to post them. My favorite is cornucopia: “corn” and “coke” . After practicing the syllables I ask the kids to connect “corn” and “coke” to the corresponding syllables. I ask them to repeat the entire word aloud 5 times, then create an original sentence using the word. They rarely fail to retrieve “cornucopia” after that.
Other important Thanksgiving words to practice AHEAD of time:
harvest holiday seasons acorns holiday leftovers
acorns settlers autumn Massachusetts stuffing casserole
Mayflower tradition celebrate parade voyage centerpiece
Pilgrim wishbone Plymouth drumstick relatives religion
feast gravy Samoset Squanto Massasoit Wampanoag
Sorry these are so late…maybe next year?
